Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is no stranger to helping distressed Indians who reach out to her on social media.
Earlier this week, Swaraj promised to help a Saudi Arabia-based Sikh man, who reached out to her via a video on Twitter.
The Sikh man alleged, via video, that a firm in Saudi Arabia, that he and his son were employed with, owed them a total of around Rs 10 lakh in unpaid salaries. The man alleged that the company owed him 35,000 rial (Rs 6 lakh), and owed his son 17,000 rial (around Rs 3 lakh).
The man sought the help of the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia and said that he had a problem with his leg, which could lead to an amputation if left untreated.
Swaraj assured him of help and tagged the Indian Embassy in Riyadh on the post.
Swaraj’s reply has received over 600 retweets and 2,500 likes.
After her response, the the Indian embassy in Riyadh also tweeted, asking if anyone had the Sikh man’s phone number
