The Supreme Court on Monday, 21 October, allowed construction of the Ravidas temple at the same site in Delhi where it was demolished.

Attorney General KK Venugopal told a bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Shripathi Ravindra Bhat that the Centre has revised its offer from 200 square metre area for the temple to 400 square metre, keeping in view the faith and sentiments of devotees.

The apex court also directed that all those who were arrested during agitations following the demolition of the temple be released on furnishing of personal bond, PTI reported.

The apex court has added that the temple has to be constructed within 400 square meters of the land.

The bench directed the Centre to constitute, within six weeks, a committee for the construction of the temple in the area earmarked for it.

The bench also said that nobody will carry out any commercial activity in the area in and around the place earmarked for temple, PTI reported.

People who were arrested during agitations following the demolition of the temple are to be released on furnishing of personal bond, the top court has directed.

A few days, on 18 October, the Centre had agreed to give Guru Ravidas' devotees the same site for temple construction in Delhi where it was demolished.
