On the second day of his deposition before a sessions court, Sheena Bora's younger brother Mekhail Bora on Tuesday, 23 July, alleged that his mother, Indrani Mukherjee, prime accused in her daughter Sheena’s murder, “forced” him to do things like “arm-twisting” the latter and pestering her to give up the love of her life.

His insistence that Sheena leave Rahul, Peter Mukerjea’s son, became a major bone of contention between the siblings, he told the court, reported Mumbai Mirror.

He further alleged that Indrani had called him to Mumbai on 24 April 2012, the same day that Sheena was murdered, in a ruse to ‘discuss’ why Sheena was acting up, which he said was a ploy to murder him as well.

‘She Tried to Kill Me Too’

In his deposition, Mekhail said that on Indrani’s insistence, he had flown from Guwahati to Mumbai on the same day, where was greeted by Shyam Rai (another alleged accomplice in the murder) at the door of his mother’s house, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Sanjeev Khanna was also there, he said.

It was around 10:15 pm when Indrani came back home to Marlow and offered me two drinks. After just two pegs, I was sweating, which normally doesn’t happen.

He said that following this, he went inside another room, to hide how he was feeling from Indrani and the others. He alleged that she had asked him to stay back for the night, but he had countered saying that he wasn’t sleepy.

I was very scared. I waited for sunrise and flew back to Guwahati. I was really tired and slept for the entire day. On 26 April, when I switched my phone on, Indrani called me and was very angry. She said I had forgotten to close the door behind me, and asked me why I had left suddenly.

‘She Wanted to Prove I Was Insane’

Earlier on Sunday, 23 July, Mekhail had spoken in front of the court and said that Indrani called him to Mumbai in 2006, where she introduced Khanna to him as a client, Hindustan Times reported. “Despite my refusal, Khanna ordered tequila for me. I had two shots and lost consciousness. The next day, I found myself tied to a chair in a room, with my head shaved,” the daily quoted him as saying.

"I was tortured for one month and confined to a room, and was asked to have food with mentally ill patients. I was given electric shocks and injections, and I was kept tied. I cannot express in open court the other things they did to me. I have not touched drugs till date. I realised later that maybe Indrani wanted no one to believe me if I said she was my mother and wanted to prove I am insane," Mekhail told the court, as per a report in The Hindu.

He alleged that Indrani forced their grandparents to adopt him and Sheena when they were in class 9 and 10 respectively. The Hindu quotes Mekhail as telling the court that Indrani promised to provide financial assistance on one condition – "Peter [Mukerjea] and Vidhi should not know that we are her children. She said we should address her as the elder sister, but we refused. We told her we would call her by name. But we needed her help with our education. Indrani told me since it was my vacation I could come to Mumbai and stay with them for a while. She sent me tickets, and I came to Mumbai," Mekhail told the court,
