In what has yet again brought out in the open the factitious war within the Mannargudi family, Sasikala’s brother Dhivaharan has accused RK Nagar MLA and leader of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam of running a one-man-show in his party.
Speaking to media persons in Mannargudi, he made it clear that he was not in favour of Dhinakaran’s party.
When asked about his relationship with TTV Dhinakaran, Dhivaharan said, "TTV has not spoken anything. He's making others talk for him. Let him open his mouth and talk first."
On AMMK, the party that Dhinakaran launched on 15 March, Dhivaharan said:
I don’t accept it. Without (the words) Dravidian and Anna, I can’t accept it. We are always Amma’s party.Dhivaharan
However, he denied that there were talks ongoing between the ruling dispensation and TTV Dhinakaran, stating that the EPS-OPS camp is floating such rumours to discredit Dhinakaran.
Responding to a question on whether he would work with Dhinakaran in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, he said, "There is no chance of us working together. You cannot stay in a place where there is no respect.”
He mentioned his belief that the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam had been “created secretly” without informing any subordinates or district secretaries and only for his family members.
I will never talk to TTV Dhinakaran. I don’t have the time for all that because I have already confronted him once but I stopped because my sister and the party were under stress.Dhivaharan
Dhivaharan also said that if need be, he would contest elections under the banner of ‘Amma Forum’.
Two days after TTV Dhinakaran's party launch, one of his earliest supporters Nanjil Sampath quit the party for similar reasons.
“TTV Dhinakaran believes he can run his party by insulting Anna and Dravidianism. I'm not going to ask why he did this. He's a leader I respected and celebrated. He himself has committed a murder in broad daylight. I cannot bear this injustice,” Sampath had said.
