Rocky Yadav and three others have been pronounced guilty in the Aditya Sachdeva murder case by the Gaya District Court. The quantum of sentence would be announced on 6 September.
Sachdeva’s mother, Chand, said her son finally got justice. Speaking to Republic TV, she said that the sixteen-month fight for her son was a tough one.
Sachdeva was 19-years-old when he was shot dead in May 2016 by Rocky Yadav, son of suspended JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi.
Yadav had allegedly killed Sachdeva for overtaking his SUV on the road connecting Gaya and Bodh Gaya. The former Bihar lawmaker’s son allegedly fired a warning shot in the air, compelling Sachdeva to halt.
Soon after, Sachdeva, a Class 12 student at the time, was beaten up, before being shot dead.
At the time of Sachdeva’s untimely death, many accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of not expediting the case, especially because the perpetrator’s mother was a leader of the ruling party.
While Yadav faces murder charges, other charges linked to the case such as destruction of evidence, have been slapped against his cousin Teni, father Bindi, mother Manorama, and bodyguard Rajesh Kumar, as per a report by Hindustan Times.
