Bengaluru-based journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh was killed after unidentified men shot at her from a close range outside her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, late on 5 September.
The cold-blooded murder was condemned across the country with several netizens voicing their outrage in virtual space. However, there were several who expressed happiness at the murder. Following this, Union Minister for Information Technology and Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad took to Twitter to condemn those who hailed the murder.
However, soon Prasad himself was trolled for “bowing down” to the “liberal bullies”.
There were others who felt that he has not done enough for RSS workers killed in Kerala and Bengal.
There were also some who expressed their support and urged the minister to put words into actions.
Gauri Lankesh had been a vocal critic of right-wing parties in Karnataka and wrote columns for various local newspapers.
