Amidst the buzz surrounding the race for the 2017 Indian presidential elections is a self-proclaimed quizzer called Nitiksh Srivastava, who had accurately predicted Ram Nath Kovind, current governor of Bihar, as the BJP’s presidential candidate.
On 2 June 2016, Twitter user Rahul Sharma ran an online poll, asking his followers to indicate their choice for the 2017 Presidential Elections. In response to that, Srivastava had named Kovind, who also happens to be a Dalit leader.
On Monday, after the BJP’s national chief Amit Shah announced Kovind as its presidential nominee, Srivastava’s Twitter news feed went into overdrive, as his prophecy came true:
Here are some of the reactions to Srivastava’s prediction:
Congratulations came pouring in, as many hailed the accurate prophecy:
One Twitter user joked that perhaps Srivastava had tapped Amit Shah’s phone:
Then there were those who wanted soothsayer Srivastava to read their fortunes too.
.... And some sought advice for future business dealings:
...To which Srivastava had a cheeky retort:
Maybe Srivastava should predict the results of future cricket matches between India and Pakistan and save us from heartbreak:
Is Srivastava a new-age prophet? Well, some Tweeple certainly think so.
Well, Srivastava’s prophetic abilities will only be proven with time, if Ram Nath Kovind wins the presidential race. But if you believe Twitter’s Nostradamus, the chances are good.
