- Alleged sharpshooter, and the main accused in Bihar scribe Rajdeo Ranjan’s murder case, Mohd Kaif has surrendered in a court in Siwan on Wednesday.
- According to reports, Siwan Court has sent the accused Kaif to 14 days judicial custody.
- Kaif, along with Mohammad Javed, is wanted in connection with the murder of Ranjan on 13 May. The two remained at large before being seen with Mohammad Shahabuddin on his way home from Bhagalpur jail after his release earlier this month.
- The Central Bureau of Investigation is formally investigating the murder after it took over the case from Bihar’s Siwan police, who handed over all documents related to the case to the eight member team.
- The CBI investigation comes after Asha Ranjan, the wife of the slain journalist, moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of probe and trial in the murder case to Delhi from Siwan.
