India's under-19 cricket team coach Rahul Dravid has reportedly gone out of his way to ensure that every member of his support staff, including those who have worked with the team in the past, get equal cash rewards after the team's World Cup triumph. He also ensured that the money reached the family of a trainer who passed away while on duty with the team, the The Indian Express reported.
Dravid had raised the demand earlier when he was hesitant on accepting the Rs 50 lakh bonus – the players got Rs 30 lakh each and members of the support staff got Rs 20 lakh.
According to the reassessed list, all members of the staff, including Dravid will receive Rs 25 lakh each, the Indian Express further reported.
From the time the award was announced, Dravid wasn’t happy with him getting much more than others. He informed the Board that he felt that every member had played an equal role in the team winning the World Cup. It surprised many in the BCCI that he was ready to take a cut in his own earning.Board member, as quoted by the Indian Express
During a meeting with BCCI Chief Executive Rahul Johri on 14 February, Dravid suggested rewarding those who had been with the team earlier but weren't a part of the tour to New Zealand.
(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
