1. Matching VVPAT Slips Likely to Delay Results on Counting Day

Tomorrow is the D-day. People’s vote will decide who will be the next Prime Minister and form the government. The counting of votes will begin at 8.00 am the and results are expected only by late evening. This delay is due to tallying of voter verified paper audit trail  slips with EVM count which is a procedure happening for the first time.

2. Gomathi Will Lose Asian C’ship Gold If ‘B Sample’ Tests Positive

Gomathi Marimuthu made history by winning the historic 800m gold at the Doha Asian Championships last month. Now her medal could be snatched away, if indeed she is proven to have used performance enhancing drugs. When The Quint contacted Gomathi, her brother told us she was not informed of this.

She has now been provisionally suspended pending the result of her ‘B’ sample. If that test also comes out positive, Gomathi could face a maximum ban of four years.
