1. Perfumer Monika Ghurde’s ‘Killers’ Caught on ATM Cam, One Arrested


A man has been arrested in Bengaluru in Karnataka in connection with the murder of celebrity perfumer Monika Ghurde, a senior Goa Police officer said on Sunday.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Vimal Gupta told reporters that suspect Raj Kumar, hailing from Punjab, was picked up from Bengaluru after he tried to withdraw money from an ATM card belonging to the 39-year-old deceased late on Saturday night.

2. Stalker Rapes Minor Girl in Hyderabad


A minor girl was allegedly raped by one Ajit Kumar, 19, at Chatrinaka in Hyderabad. Police said the victim had been lured to the house by the attacker’s sister and Kumar had warned the girl against telling anyone.

The Chatrinaka police has booked a case and started a hunt for the suspect.
The victim said Kumar had been stalking her for two years. On 24 September, his sister called her to her house. When she went there, the suspect allegedly raped her,” said south zone DCP V. Satyanarayana.

3. Pune Man Loses Rs 70,000 in Debit Card Cloning Case


A city-based IT professional recently fell victim to debit card cloning and lost around Rs 70,000.

The fraud came to light on October 4 when Sachin Prakash Tambvekar (39) of Warje - senior consultant in a private firm in Talawade - received text messages on his cellphone regarding three transactions of varying amounts being made between 3.13 am and 4.03 am.

Tambvekar registered a complaint on Friday under the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act at the Warje Malwadi police station. He also filed a complaint with HDFC Bank.

4. Doctor ‘Molests’ 2 Patients in His Clinic


Well-known pulmonologist Dr B. Vijay Bhaskar, 54, was arrested on Sunday by the Gopalpuram police in Hyderbad for allegedly raping and molesting two patients.

Dr Bhaskar allegedly committed the offence on a 24-year-old techie and a 59-year-old woman on different occasions. Police said that after patients entered the consultation room, he would make them feel comfortable and then proceed to molest them.

Last Friday, a 23-year-old techie from West Marredpally came to the clinic complaining of a cough. In the guise of treatment, he allegedly touched her private parts saying that was part of the treatment. She resisted and escaped from the clinic and lodged a complaint with the police.

5. Tension in Nashik After Teenage Boy Rapes 5-Yr-Old Girl


A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenage boy at Trimbakeshwar which led to tension as angry villagers protested at several places in the district demanding his immediate arrest, police said on Sunday.

The boy has been taken into custody, they said. In view of the situation, Nashik Police Commissioner Ravindra Singhal has appealed people to maintain peace.

The 16-year-old boy allegedly raped the girl at an isolated place at Talegaon village under Trimbakeshwar taluka in the district on Saturday, Trimbakeshwar police station in-charge Mukund Deshmukh said.

6. 50-Year-Old Loses Rs 4 Lakh to Phone Scammers of Adult Website


A 50-year-old government servant lost Rs 4.05 lakh from his bank account, when he tried to chat with a "friend" on an adult website and attempted to generate a One Time Password (OTP) to execute a fee transaction of Rs 100. The conman also called up government servant and threatened him with dire consequences if he approached the cops.

"We will soon be able to crack the case. However at the same time we would suggest that people should avoid such websites and restrain themselves from paying fees online to such suspicious IDs" said a senior crime branch official.

7. Two Arrested for Robbery at Ghaziabad Law College


The Ghaziabad crime branch arrested on Sunday two members of a gang who robbed students at the Global College of Law in Kushaliya over nearly three hours on the intervening night of 30 September and 1 October. They also held the hostel students hostage before escaping in a mini-truck with goods worth lakhs of rupees.

Police arrested Abid from Jarcha in Gautam Budh Nagar and Suhail from Vijay Nagar.

All of the victims, including two girls, who were robbed of their valuables were from Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from taking their belongings, the gang also made off with computers, LED monitors, fans, water coolers, taps and fittings, and other valuable items from the campus.

8. Delhi: Cops Crack Kidnapping of Ex-Councillor's Son, 4 Held

A gang posing as cops kidnapped the 20-year-old son of former Delhi municipal corporation councillor Shambhu Dayal Sharma and held him hostage for six days, demanding a ransom of Rs 50 crore for his release.

The college student was released on October 3 after Sharma reportedly paid Rs 1 crore.

Police said on Sunday four suspects were arrested while a hunt is on to capture another eight men, including the lynchpin who is a real estate agent in outer Delhi.

9. Three Cops Get 3 Years Jail for 'Jeb Katri' Tattoo on Forehead of Women


The CBI court in Patiala has ordered three years' imprisonment for the three police officers who were responsible for the infamous case of December 1993, in which they had forcibly tattooed 'jeb katri' (pick-pocket) on the foreheads of four women. The victims, however, feel the cops escaped with light punishment, given the humiliation their families and they had to suffer all these years.

The three police officers who have been convicted include former superintendent of police Sukhdev Singh Chhina and sub-inspector Narinder Singh Malhi, who have been awarded three years’ rigorous imprisonment.
