1. Snapdeal Employee Missing from NCR, CM’s Office Responds to Twitter Call

A 25-year-old woman allegedly went missing after taking an autorickshaw from the metro station in the Vaishali area of Ghaziabad, police said.

On Thursday, the UP police launched a search operation in the jungles of Morti near Raj Nagar extension, where her last location was traced to. Ten teams of Ghaziabad Police are trying to trace Deepti Sarna, who works with Snapdeal in Gurgaon.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has instructed the Ghaziabad SSP to personally head the search operation.

The CEO and co-founder of the e-commerce company showed concern about the alleged abduction.

2. Sapphire International Case: Arrested Teacher Couple React Violently, Children Sent to Juvenile Home

A teacher couple was arrested in connection with the murder of Sapphire International student Binay Kumar Mahto, on Wednesday.

The Telegraph reported that the couple unleashed violent paroxysms of hate and frustration on Thursday morning. While the woman tried to snatch a cop’s gun and slapped two constables, the man banged his head against a wall.

The couple’s 16-year-old son, who had allegedly fatally assaulted Class VII student Binay with metal knuckledusters on February 5, and 12-year-old daughter, whom the victim had a crush on, were “terrified and quiet” during the half-an-hour fuss, police sources said.

Nusrat repeatedly accused the police of “character assassination in public”, and told the court that they were being framed. Justice Chandra Bhanu, however, remanded the couple in judicial custody for 14 days.

The children were sent to a juvenile home in Dumardaga.

3. DU Student Aarzoo Singh’s Murder was Premediated: Police Sources

The murder of Delhi University student Aarzoo Singh on February 2 was planned in advance, sources in Delhi police said on Thursday.

She was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend Naveen Khatri who according to police sources allegedly gave her water laced with sedatives before killing her, The Indian Express reported.

On the day of the incident, which was two days before his wedding, Khatri met Aarzoo and requested for her help in distributing the wedding invitation cards, said sources.

Police said that when he was first questioned, Khatri tried to mislead the investigators by blaming his father, brother and two of his friends for the crime.

4. Trinamool Leader Arrested For Violence in Kolkata

Trinamool leader from North Kolkata’s Cossipore area, Swapan Chakrabarty was arrested at Dum Dum airport on Thursday afternoon in connection with two incidents of violence in January. Both incidents were suspected to be the fallout of Trinamool’s factional feud.

According to The Telegraph, Chakrabarty, who is in his early 50s, has been booked under IPC Section 307, which deals with the attempt to murder, and the explosive substances act.

Chakrabarty was the alleged mastermind of two incidents of violence that occurred on January 21 and 27, during which bombs were hurled. His name had also surfaced in connection with a clash days before the Calcutta Municipal Corporation elections on April 18, 2015.

Around the election period for the Calcutta Municipal Corporation, Chakrabarty’s men and their rivals, backed by Trinamool leader Anwar Khan, had fought with guns and bombs in Cossipore, leaving a man seriously injured.

5. Police Stabbed by Four Men in a Road Rage Incident

A Delhi police constable suffered serious injuries when four people stabbed him in a road rage incident that occurred on Thursday evening, police said.

Police have arrested one of the four accused who has been identified as Sunil while a hunt is on to nab his associates: Pawan, Ashok and Ganesh. All of the accused are in their late 20s, a police officer informed.

The incident took place around 4.30 pm in the Trilokpuri area of east Delhi when constable Vikram was on patrolling duty with his colleague constable Kavinder, both of whom are deputed in the Mayur Vihar police station.

Vikram was stabbed in his back and thigh but is out of danger, said a police officer.

6. Elderly Woman Found Dead in Her Mumbai Residence

A 70-year-old woman was found dead on Thursday at her residence in the suburban area of Jogeshwari in Mumbai, with her throat slit, police said.

The deceased was identified as Mumtaz Badshah.

Her husband Rashid who goes to work to Saki Naka around 9 am every day had called the deceased victim around 10:30 am on Thursday and had a conversation with her, a police officer said. But when he called again her around 12.30 pm, but she did not pick up the call.

Police have denied the possibility of robbery in the case and are going through the CCTV footage of the building.

“She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival,” the police said.

7. Delhi Police Bust Gang of Cyber Criminals, Two Arrested

Cyber criminals are now using e-wallets – Oxigen, PayUMoney and Billdesk – to transfer stolen money. The crime branch of Delhi police busted a gang of hackers on Thursday who had been using such means to dodge the police, The Times of India reported.

Among the two arrested, one has been identified as Sunil Pandey who is a BCA graduate. His aide, Vicky, is still in college. Cops are looking for their associates.

The accused would pose as bank officials and call up people to obtain their card and account details.

One of the complainants, a businessman from south Delhi, said he had received a call from a man posing as a bank official who wanted to verify details of his ATM card. Following this, the businessman found that Rs 85,000 had been withdrawn from his account.

8. Fourteen-Year-Old Student Hit on His Genitals as Punishment in Bengaluru

In a shocking case of corporal punishment, a 14-year-old boy was hit on the genitals by a member of the executive committee of a school for not taking down notes, reports The Hindu.

The child fainted after the incident. A case of assault was registered against the member after it got reported on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Muslim Orphanage Higher Grade Boys and Girls School where around 340 children from economically weaker sections are enrolled..

The accused, Sheikh Shafiulla, went to the school for an inspection where he reportedly hit two students before turning to the 14-year-old.

Though the class teacher tried to call an ambulance to shift the child to a hospital, she was allegedly prevented from doing so.

9. Son Kills His Alcoholic Father

Frustrated over the nuisance continuously created by his father under the influence of alcohol, a 19-year-old youth, S Manikandan, murdered his father P Selvaraj, aged 42, after taking him to Thathaneri cremation ground in Madurai on Thursday.

Police said that the victim, Selvaraj, used to pick quarrels with his wife and children, and neighbours often in his drunken stupor.

Angered by the repeated incidents where Selvaraj beat up his mother, Manikandan slit open his father’s throat, killing him on the spot, The Hindu reported.

The police arrested Manikandan.
