1. Infosys Techie Murderer Finally Arrested

The accused in the murder of 24-year-old Infosys employee S Swathi at a railway station in Chennai, was arrested late on Friday night, according to The Hindu. He was identified as Ramkumar, an engineer hailing from Sengottai, Tirunelveli.

Additionally, India Today reported that Ramkumar was about to commit suicide by slashing his throat when the police arrested him.

2. Prime Accused in Jisha Rape and Murder Also Booked for Bestiality

The prime accused in the brutal rape and murder of Jisha – a 30-year-old Dalit law student in Kerala – was arrested on Friday in another case for allegedly engaging in sexual activities with a goat.

Police said Ameerul Islam, the migrant labourer from Assam – who is in judicial custody – had confessed about having engaged in sexual activities with animals in the neighbourhood where he used to stay in Perumbavoor.

Based on his confession statement, the local police conducted an investigation in the area and found a goat with injuries in its private parts.

Ameerul was booked by the Kuruppampady police under sections including unnatural offence and cruelty against animals after the owner of the goat lodged a complaint against him, police said.

3. Rape FIR Against Jharkhand BJP Chief’s Son

Police in Ranchi registered an FIR against Jharkhand BJP Chief Tala Marandi’s newly-wed son Munna Marandi on Friday, on charges of sexual exploitation alleged by a minor, while the district administration is likely to submit a report on his alleged child bride in court on Saturday.

The Telegraph reported that Munna has been booked under Section 376 of IPC (rape) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The Mahila Congress wing burnt Tara Marandi’s effigies, as he denied the allegations against his son and floated conspiracy theories about him getting targeted through his son.

4. Serial “Stone-Killer” Arrested in Rajkot

The police in Rajkot claimed to have arrested the serial killer responsible for the murder of three persons with stones in the city since April, on Friday.

Hitesh Ramavat, 30, the alleged killer, was arrested in Bedeshwar area of Jamnagar city, Rajkot police commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said.

Ramavat had confessed to bludgeoning three persons to death with stones and also to one unsuccessful murder attempt, Gehlot said.

5. Class VIII Student Remanded to Judicial Custody for Bringing Firearms to School

The class VIII student who was caught flaunting a country-made pistol in his school was remanded in judicial custody on Friday, as his father lamented his poor parenting skills.

According to The Telegraph, the boy had been arrested under Section (25-1B) of the Arms Act for possessing the unlicensed pistol.

Police said that the boy broke down every time he was asked where he sourced the firearm from.

6. Six Dacoits from One of the Biggest Cash Hauls in Maharashtra Arrested

Forty-eight hours after one of the biggest dacoities in Maharashtra, Thane police arrested six of the dacoits and recovered Rs 4 cr in cash with the help of human and technical intelligence.

DNA quoted a crime branch officer as saying:

The accused, who had a criminal background, had done their planning well and did not leave any trail before escaping. But we managed to ascertain the guard’s involvement after he fumbled with his answers and, once he had confessed, we went on to arrest the other accused from Nashik and Thane.

Ten other teams are working to arrest the rest of the accused.

7. Ten Members of Inter-State Kidnapping Arrested

Ten members of a gang involved in an inter-state kidnapping and ransom case was arrested by Surat police on Friday, Times of India reported.

The gangsters belonged to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Three more members of the gang which operates in four states are expected to be arrested soon.

The gang used to knock their victims unconscious by using chloroform and then use their phones to call their kin for ransom.

8. Minor Girl Kills Husband After Being Suspected of Infidelity

A minor girl killed her husband after being suspected of infidelity, late on Tuesday, in Jaipur, DNA reported.

A senior police said that the minor girl badly injured her 20-year-old husband while he was asleep. Her husband succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Officials said that appropriate action is being taken against the minor.

9. Man Kills Wife and Daughter Over Suspicions of Illicit Affair

Suspecting his wife of having an affair, a 50-year-old man of south Delhi’s Sanjay Colony killed his wife and their six-year-old daughter on Thursday night, The Hindustan Times reported.

After killing them, Mahesh Chauhan who worked as a confectioner, killed himself by consuming poison.

Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (southeast) said that a case of murder has been registered and police are probing it from all possible angles.
