1. 3-Year-Old Raped by Relative in Govindpuri

A 3-year-old girl was allegedly raped and beaten up by her relative on Tuesday when her parents had gone out for some work in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area.

The 25-year-old accused lived in a rented accommodation close to the victim’s residence and regularly visited her as she was fond of playing with him, the parents told the police. When the victim’s parents returned to pick her up from his residence they found her to be bleeding and without her clothes, police said.

2. Jilted Lover Beats College Mate to Death With Log of Wood

In a shocking incident, a 20-year old engineering student was allegedly beaten to death in her classroom in a private college near in Karur, Tamil Nade on Tuesday by her senior for spurning his ‘love’. K Sonali, doing BE Civil Engineering, was attacked by P Udayakumar on her head with a log of wood in broad daylight even as some of her classmates present there looked on in shock, police said.

3. 10-Year-Old Girl Raped by Uncle

A minor girl was allegedly repeatedly raped by her father’s brother-in-law. The victim’s family’s landlord was arrested after the matter was reported to the police in Bharat Nagar area of northwest Delhi. The girl’s father has also alleged that there was a dispute between the two families over payment of certain dues and the accused raped their daughter in order to take revenge for not paying his rent, added the officer. The accused, however, claimed innocence and said that he was being framed by the girl’s family as they haven’t paid the rent, the officer said.

4. IT Employee Raped at Knifepoint in PG Accommodation

An employee of an IT firm was allegedly raped at knifepoint by an unidentified man at her paying guest accommodation in Parappana Agrahara on Monday. The accused allegedly barged into the room of the 25-year-old victim who had been staying in the PG accommodation from several months.

Additional Commissioner of Police (East) P Harisekaran confirmed the incident, but refused to divulge any information.

5. Money Laundering Scam Worth Rs 2,000 Unearthed in Mumbai

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has blown the lid off a hawala scam worth more than Rs 2,000 crore, wherein documents of common people were stolen to transfer large amounts of money out of India. The DRI officials said the scam, involving four nationalised banks and one private bank, was carried out between October last year and March 2016 from the banks’ south Mumbai branches.

Similarly, accounts were opened in the names of a ticket-checker, a sweeper working at Govandi Railway Station, and a roadside bhelpuri vendor in Ghatkopar among others, and each account was used to transfer between Rs 400 crore and Rs 600 crore out of India, the DRI sources said.

6. Flesh Trade Kingpin Couple Arrested in Capital

Delhi Police has arrested a couple and their six associates in connection with a vast network of human trafficking and prostitution racket in the red light area of G B Road in the heart of the national capital, booking them under provisions of the stringent MCOCA Act.

The Crime Branch study of crime pattern revealed that girls from different states of the country and Nepal, most of them minors, were victims of this racket. They were sold to the Kotha owners at G B Road at the rate of Rs 1-2 lakh. Accused Saira, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, used to be a sex worker at the Kothas that she later owned.

7. Cab Driver Tries to Rape Woman, Booked

A cab driver allegedly assaulted and tried to rape an air-hostess when she resisted in Rajendra Nagar area in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunpreet Singh said the woman, who works with a private airline, had gone out of her home at about 2 am to buy something when the cab driver approached and offered to ferry her wherever she wanted to go. As she resisted, he assaulted her and fled the spot with her mobile phone.

8. Cook, Two Accomplices Loot House in New Delhi

A cook allegedly looted cash and jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh with his two accomplices from the house he was employed in on Tuesday, after locking up the 60-year-old owner, her 11-month-old grand daughter and the maid, police said today. The cook, Vinod who is a native of Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, had joined the household just three days ago. Police are scanning the CCTV footage of the house to gather clues, the police reported.

9. Man Held for Raping Minor Girl

A 25-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl in Palgarh on Tuesday. The accused took the victim, aged around 15, by force to the terrace of a building in Vasai and allegedly committed the crime on 7 August. He also threatened her with a blade and fled the spot with her mobile phone, reported the police.
