1. Eight Arrested for Gangrape of 28-Year-Old in Mumbai

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in an Andheri (West) slum on Monday. Police have arrested eight people for the crime.

The Amboli police said the incident took place in a shanty between 10:30 pm and 11 pm in Shyam Nagar slum in Andheri (West). The secluded shanty is on a hilltop at one end of the slum, the police said.

Police said the woman and her husband – they live in Powai – had gone to the Andheri slum to meet a friend, a woman who works as a help in a private hospital. The couple intended to rent a shanty in the slum, police said.

2. Woman Murdered in Rajasthan

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly murdered in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

The woman received bullet injury in the head when she was at her relative's house in Siwana area on Monday, SP Barmer Gagandeep Singla said.

She was living with her parents after the death of her husband.

"Her family members have alleged that she was shot dead. However, the initial investigation could not make it clear whether she was shot dead or she died in an accidental fire," he said.

3. Burglars Target Top Cop's Vacant House in Odisha

In what may leave the commissionerate police red-faced, unidentified miscreants on Monday allegedly stole some construction materials from an under-construction house, allotted by the state government to Commissioner of Police YB Khurania in Unit-1 area in Bhubaneswar.

While cops, including Khurania, were tight-lipped, police sources said the burglary occurred when nobody was present in the house. Khurania, who currently stays in Cuttack city, about 30 km from Bhubaneswar, will shift to the new house after completion of the repair work.

4. 4-Year-Old Girl Beheaded to 'Appease God' to Find Lost Phone

Four people in Assam’s Charaideo district allegedly sacrificed a four-year-old girl to appease God in order to trace a lost mobile phone that belonged to one of the accused men’s daughter.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, the beheaded body of the girl and her chopped off hands were found in Ratanpur village of the district on Tuesday morning. The girl, identified as Sunu Godba, was reported missing on 24 October.

The Assam Police has arrested two men, identified as Hanuman Bhumij and Arif Uddin Ali, while two others – alleged black magic practitioner named Gabbar Singh and Ali’s brother Jalal Uddin – are absconding.

5. Guntur Businessman Shot Dead in Bengaluru During Diwali

A 55-year-old businessman from Guntur was gunned down by two assailants in north Bengaluru during Diwali revelry.

Parchuri Surendra Kumar, who set out from his Hebbal office, reached his palatial bungalow in Hanumanthaiah Colony around 9:45 pm on Sunday, when the motorbike-borne assailants fired at him as soon as he stepped out of his Maruti car.

It took more than 10-15 minutes for neighbours and passersby to notice Surendra lying in blood.

6. Trio on the Run Arrested for Rape

Hayathnagar police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly raped a 21-year-old woman in a car with two of his friends on Diwali.

The trio had been stopped by locals and were assaulted, but they managed to run away. The suspects confessed that they were drunk and followed the girl as they knew her. The girl denied that she knew them.

The suspects, Madhagoni Prasad, 24, car driver from  Bharathnagar, LB Nagar; Siddagoni Shiva Kumar, 25, from Alkapuri Colony; and Parigi Mallesh, 25, a newspaper agent from Rajiv Gandhi nagar, Saroornagar, landed in police custody while they were on the run.

7. Thieves Break Into Bungalow, Stay for 2 Days; 1 Held

Two thieves allegedly broke into the vacant bungalow of a doctor in Vasai and stayed there for two days till they aroused the suspicion of neighbours.

Manickpur Police said Dr Prashant Padhe, 64, residing in the one-storey Parijat bungalow on Ambadi Road, Vasai (W) was out of the city since 6 October. Padhe's neighbours informed the police of suspicious movement in the bungalow on 29 October. Police landed up at the bungalow and arrested Rajkumar Nishad, 23 but his accomplice fled. Nishad, a Nalla Sopara resident, has been booked for house trespass.

Police seized a laptop and camera from Nishad, a petty criminal. The doctor, who was informed about the theft, returned and filed a police complaint on 30 October.

8. Passengers Robbed in Bengaluru-Delhi Rajdhani Express

Miscreants stole half-a-dozen mobile phones, jewelleries and cash worth lakhs from passengers on Bengaluru-Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, early on Tuesday.

According to the complaint filed by some passengers of 22691 Rajdhani Express, the incident occurred between Agra and Mathura stations.

"The passengers of A1 and A2 coach of the train were deprived of over half dozen costly mobiles, cash worth about Rs 60,000 and jewelleries worth lakhs of rupees," said DCM/PRO DRM Office Agra Neeraj Bhatnagar.

The miscreants de-boarded the train after pulling the chain in the outskirts of Mathura, he added.

9. Gangster Nabbed by Chandigarh Police

A notorious gangster, who was wanted in several criminal cases, including murder, was nabbed by city police.

Sandeep Singh alias Sunny was arrested when he was going towards village Dhanas in a car to allegedly kill a city-based jeweller, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police led by inspector Amanjot Singh laid a 'naka' near Dhanas bridge and signalled the gangster to stop.

However, he took his pistol and aimed at cops. But he was overpowered by Head Constable Durjan Singh and Constable Daulat Ram. A pistol and file live cartridges were seized from his possession, police said.

Sandeep had escaped from the custody of Haryana Police, while they were taking him back after producing him in District Court Mohali on 11 October this year.
