1. Mersal Audio Launch: Ignore Negativity, Vijay Tells Fans
It's a milestone year for both Thalapathy Vijay and AR Rahman – they both complete 25 years in the film industry. The two get together in upcoming film Mersal, the audio launch of which was held in a grand manner at the Nehru stadium in Chennai.
"Mersal is special for me. I admire director Atlee's confidence and his ability to execute things," said Vijay, even as thousands of his fans cheered him on, "I've given hits and blockbusters but what I've truly earned is my fans."
The actor advised his fans, saying, "Ignore all negativity. The two things that decide a person's fate are: his determination when he has nothing, and his attitude when he has everything."

2. ‘DMK Will Bring Down Govt in Democratic Way’
DMK working president MK Stalin on Sunday blamed the ruling AIADMK government for not honouring the demands of the government employees and warned that the opposition party would join hands with the latter to bring down the government.
In a statement, he charged that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is not capable of handling the proposed government employees’ protest through talks, and hence, sending him home is the right option.

3. Ajith Warns Against Posts
A notice on behalf of actor Ajith Kumar, from his legal counsel, which was put out on Saturday, stated that the actor had not authorised any individuals, groups, associations or social media handles to use his name or images, or to make any social, political or personal views on his behalf.
The notice further said that the actor did not endorse any brand or product.

4. Wife Kills Husband With Boulder
A 45-year-old habitual offender was murdered by his wife, who dropped a boulder on his head on Saturday night at their house in Manali.
Durai Raj, the victim, has been arrested by police many times in connection with a number of petty crimes. He lived with his wife Manjula and daughter Pavithra, 21, in CPCL Nagar.
Durairaj used to squander money on alcohol and Manjula ran a tea shop to make ends meet and to get their daughter married. However, Durairaj used to steal the money and drink.

5. VCK Chief Says BJP Is Controlling the Govt
Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan has alleged that the BJP was controlling both the AIADMK government and the party.
Talking to reporters after visiting DMK leader M Karunanidhi on Saturday, he said the way BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu express their views clearly showed the party’s designs.

6. Proposal For More Medical Seats Hailed
The Doctors Association For Social Equality (DASE) has welcomed the government’s reported move to consider the creation of 2,500 more medical college seats after seeking approval for the same from the Medical Council of India.
In a press release, the organisation said that the Central government should make efforts to ensure that Tamil Nadu is allotted 3,000 more seats in order to be able to accommodate aspirants who wrote the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and those who were aiming for admission on the basis of their Class XII marks.

7. An In-Patient Unit for Small Animals
Alice, an eight-year-old cross-bred dog, is recuperating after a surgery to remove a cyst in her kidney. She has a spacious separate kennel in the fully equipped Small Animal In-patient Unit at the Madras Veterinary College and a team of veterinarians is always at her disposal. After she recovers from the surgery, she will undergo another operation to remove cataracts in both eyes.
A German sheperd with renal complications and hip dislocation, lodged in a big cage, is also receiving round-the-clock attention. It has been kept in the cage instead of a separate room to restrict its movements.
