1. Allah Pe Bharosa Hai: Wife Tells Yakub

Family of Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon met him at Nagpur Central Jail on Thursday. The meeting ended on an emotional note, following which the family rushed out at 11.15 am and got into a waiting private car.

Jail sources said that Yakub tried to remain stoic before his wife and daughter but had tears welling up when he was ushered back into the ‘fasi’ yard.

3. 15-Year-Old Prodigy To Pursue PhD

Sushma Verma was the country’s youngest post-graduate student in the country. Now, at age 15, she is all set to pursue research in environmental microbiology at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow.

She has secured the seventh rank in the University Research Entrance Test in environmental microbiology. Naveen Kumar, head, department of environmental microbiology, BBAU, said four PhD seats were vacant.

6. New Drug Capsule Shells Offer New Choice: Veg or Non-Veg

A scientific committee may advise the Drug Controller General of India to let drug manufacturers choose between capsule shells made of cellulose, derived from plants instead of gelatin, an animal product.

However, it will be optional. Drug manufacturers will have to decide what to use for the shell. It is not within our mandate to make it mandatory though there is a thinking that it is time for the gradual phasing out of gelatin.

7. Military Bands to Play in Shopping Mall

On July 25 and 26, bands of Indian Air Force and Indian Army would perform at the Select City Walk shopping mall in Delhi, in honour of the 1999 Kargil war heroes.
