1. Parliamentary  Committee to Discuss Net Neutrality Tomorrow

A Parliamentary Committee will discuss the controversial net neutrality issue tomorrow at a meeting where officials of telecom companies like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea are expected to present their views. The Standing Committee of Parliament will examine the issue over which there has been an uproar for some time, with even MPs voicing concern in Parliament during the just-concluded budget session.

2. Centre to Hold Meeting of Uttar, and Madhya Pradesh CMs to Resolve Water Issue

In a bid to resolve the dispute between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh over releasing water from the Bansagar Dam, the Centre has convened a meeting of the chief ministers of the two states in New Delhi today. Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti has called the meeting.

3. Court to Hear Pachauri’s Plea to enter the TERI Office

A Delhi court on adjourned the hearing of TERI Director General RK Pachauri’s plea seeking permission to enter his office after the complainant submitted that she has filed a plea before High Court for cancellation of his anticipatory bail, last Saturday till today, 21 May. Additional Sessions Judge Raj Kumar Tripathi said judicial propriety demands that the matter be heard only after the Delhi High Court decides plea for cancellation of anticipatory bail of the accused.

4. CBSE 10th Board Results to be Declared Today

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to declare the results of Class 10th Board examination results today. The results will be available through the board website cbse.nic.in. This year a total of 13,73,853 students appeared in the 10th board examination, entailing a 3.37 percent hike as compared to the last year.

5. Corporate Espionage: Court to Take Note of Chargesheet during Hearing Today

A Delhi court today took cognizance on the charge sheet filed against three arrested accused, including two government officials, in the corporate espionage case for allegedly possessing “sensitive” documents relating to various ministries. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar Arora after taking cognisance posted the case for scrutiny of documents today.

6. US-Cuba to Discuss Diplomatic Relations

American and Cuban officials will meet today to discuss reopening embassies and tackle broader migration, security and environmental issues, the US State Department said on Thursday. The US top official for Latin America, Roberta Jacobson, will host a team from the Cuban government led by Havana’s director of US affairs, Josefina Vidal.

7. AirAsia will Launch Daily Flights From New Delhi Today

AirAsia is launching daily flights from Delhi to Bengaluru, Goa and Guwahati from today. Delhi will be the airline’s second base, following its launch last June. AirAsia began operations from Bengaluru and now has now five Airbus A320 planes. Initially, it will fly twice daily on the Delhi-Bengaluru route and a single flight to Goa and Guwahati. From June 16, it will add a second flight to Goa.

8. FIFA Officials to Visit India Today

In a bid to take stock of the progress made so far in the upcoming U-17 World Cup in 2017, FIFA’s events director Colin Smith alongwith Fifa U-17 World Cup event manager Jaime Yarza is scheduled to make a stop at Football House in New Delhi today, en route to New Zealand for the U-20 World Cup starting May 30. It was learnt that Yarza will be the project manager from FIFA’s side for the India youth showpiece and will have a team under him to keep a constant vigil on the work being done as the event draws to a close in two years’ time.
