1. Arun Jaitley Begins 10-day US Visit

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will begin his 10-day US visit today, in a drive to hard sell the India story among top American administrators, industry leaders and Wall Street honchos. While in Washington, Jaitley is scheduled to meet US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew in San Fracisco. He will hold a round table meeting with global investors during the visit ending June 25, an official from the Finance Ministry said.

2. Jitanram Manjhi to Hold Core Committee Meeting of his Party

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has called a meeting of the core committee of his party Hindustan Awam Morcha today to discuss on the seat sharing deal with BJP.

3. Jitender Tomar’s Bail Plea Hearing

Former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar’s bail application will be heard by a Delhi court today. Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jain had deferred the bail hearing after observing that the investigating officer of the case is out of Delhi with the accused and the progress report and documents related to the case are not available to the court.

4. Verdict on Kalraj Mishra Case

The court of chief judicial magistrate in Pilibhit will deliver its verdict in a case relating to the withdrawal of a criminal case against BJP leader and union minister Kalraj Mishra for allegedly delivering a delivering a provocative public speech at judges’ court today. The case against Mishra was lodged at Pilibhit Kotwali police station on March 28, 2009.

5. GST: Rajya Sabha Select Committee to Meet Today

With most states on board, the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on GST will submit its views tomorrow to the Parliamentary panel looking into the Constitutional amendment bill for introduction of new indirect tax regime. “Tomorrow, I am going to present the proposal before the Parliamentary committee. Most of the states are in agreement with GST,” said K M Mani, chairman of the Committee.

6. Free Wi-Fi Services at the Taj Mahal

Tourists from across the world will get 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi internet facility at the Taj Mahal from today. This was decided in a meeting of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

For the first time, a humungous undertaking involving an exercise based on scientific methodology to ascertain the population of rare snow leopards is to take place in the state of Uttrakhand. 8. Narendra Modi to Visit Tripura
