Punjab Chief Minister (CM)-designate Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal held a roadshow in Amritsar on Sunday afternoon, 13 March, to celebrate the party's thumping win in the state's Assembly election.

"For the first time after so many years, Punjab has now got an honest Chief Minister. Now all the money will be spent on Punjab and its people. We will fulfill all the guarantees and make a 'Rangla' and happy Punjab," Arvind Kejriwal said.

Meanwhile, Mann said, "We've decreased the security of 122 people and due to that, 403 police personnel and 27 police vehicles have returned to the police stations. No government office will have CM's photos but will have pictures of Shaheed Bhagat Singh & Babasaheb Ambedkar."

Earlier, the duo also visited the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple, and Valmiki Temple.

"We will take the blessings of Guru Sahib to fulfill the promises we have made to the people of Punjab. Our national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is coming to Amritsar (for roadshow) today to thank the people of the State," reported NDTV, quoting Mann.

The AAP recorded a thumping win in the Assembly polls by winning 92 of the 117 seats. The ruling Congress won 18 seats, a massive decline from 77 it had won in 2017, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could manage only three seats. Mann won from Dhuri by a margin of over 58,000 votes.

Embarking on a Roadshow

Kejriwal and Mann embarked on a 'Dhanyawad yatra' in Amritsar on Sunday after the party's record-breaking victory in Punjab.

Earlier, the duo also visited the Durgiana temple to offer prayers 'for the happiness and peace of Punjab'.

A floral tribute was also hosted for the AAP convenor and to-be Punjab CM in Jallianwala Bagh memorial.

Mann is set to take oath on 16 March and announced earlier on Friday that the new Cabinet would take oath of office at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, and not at the Raj Bhavan.

News agency ANI reported that Mann would tender his resignation from the Member of Parliament (MP) post on 14 March in Delhi. He is an MP from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.

Mann, who dons Bhagat Singh's trademark 'basanti' (yellow) turban, also said that no government office will carry photographs of the chief minister. Instead, photos of Bhagat Singh and BR Ambedkar will be put up on the walls of all government offices.
