Newly appointed Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday, 5 February, paid a visit to slum dwellers residing at New Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road cluster housing.

Priyanka was reportedly on her way to meet brother Rahul via a slum route that leads to the backdoor of his residence. Along the way she is said to have met several slum dwellers, as per ABP news.

She also paid a visit to a differently-abled boy named Ashish, ANI reported. This, however, is not the first time that the leader paid him a visit.

The boy's father, Subhash Yadav, said that the Priyanka Gandhi pays them a visit every two months. “She spends time with us and asks us about our well-being,” he said.

Gandhi also provides some financial assistance to the family, the father said.

“She has been helping us in Ashish’s treatment for the last three to four years,” Yadav added.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi was seen visiting UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's residence, at 10, Janpath, as per a report in India Today.

She was also allotted an office, adjacent to the room of her brother and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, at the party headquarters on Akbar Road on Tuesday, as per PTI.

Gandhi will attend the first official meeting of the Congress party after assuming the new role on Thursday.
