Priyanka Gandhi marked her entry into active politics after being appointed as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East on Wednesday, 23 January.
As the incharge for eastern UP, she will be managing the campaign for the party in Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi parliamentary constituency, which falls in the region.
Reacting to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s appointment as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary for east Uttar Pradesh, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said, “She is a dynamic yuva (youth) neta. I am personally very happy that we will be working closely together.”
Gandhi also commented on Jyotiraditya Scindia’s appointment as the general secretary for UP West and said, “Scindia is also a very dynamic leader and the BJP is miffed.”
Jyotiraditya Scindia has been appointed as the General Secretary for UP West. KC Venugopal has been appointed as the AICC General Secretary (Organisation); he replaces Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, the previous AICC General Secretary for UP will now be the AICC General Secretary for Haryana.
The appointments have been made by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
