Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Uttarakhand Investors Summit in Dehradun on Sunday, 7 October. A large number of leading business firms and industrial houses are likely to participate in the two-day event in the state which will conclude on Monday, reported Financial Express.
In his address, PM Modi spoke on how both the banking and tax systems in our country have improved, ANI reported.
Lauding GST as the biggest tax reform post independence, he further said the country has transformed into a single market.
"Doing business has become easier due to Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code," he added.
"Potential, policy and performance," he touted are the "sources of progress."
In the last two years, Centre and state governments have taken more than 10,000 steps which have helped India gain more than 42 points in Ease of Business, ANI quoted the PM as saying. He added that the country will become primary engine of world growth.
Modi arrived at the Jolly Grant Airport in the morning at 10:30am and immediately left for the ‘Destination Uttarakhand: Investors Summit 2018’ venue at the International Cricket Stadium.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will address the event on the second day.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made across the city in view of the Prime Minister’s visit here. Around 1,500 security personnel have been deployed in and around the city under the supervision of 40 police officials of deputy superintendent rank, Additional Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told PTI.
Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, KJ Alphons and CR Chaudhary will also participate in the sessions on different subjects.
