Chakravarty was at Ramjas to attend a protest against the violence allegedly propagated at the college, by the ABVP. Before students and teachers could march to the Maurice Nagar Police Station however, members of the ABVP tried to stop them.

Chakravarty was thrashed and kicked, and was nearly strangled by his own muffler. An image of him nearly unconscious, with his clothes half-torn began to do the rounds on social media, displaying the level of violence taking place in front of Ramjas College.

He was admitted into Fortis Hospital, Noida shortly after his assault with ‘shooting abdominal pain’. He took to Facebook to update people of his condition.

He further revealed the extent of his injuries which had worsened with time. He was diagnosed with ‘concealed spasms on the right abdomen’ as well as contusions.

Several teachers, students and journalists were hurt in the stone-pelting and mass-assaults that followed when the members of the ABVP descended on the college to stop the march.
