Postal Officials Caught in Jaisalmer for ‘Spying’

The four were said to be passing on confidential information to an Inter-Services Intelligence handler.

Four postal department officials in Jaisalmer were booked under the Official Secrets Act on Monday for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), according to The Times of India.

The officials were based out of Pokhran and Balotra in Jaisalmer and were said to be passing on official documents, information related to war exercises and addresses of army men to a Pakistani agent.

Security officials raided post offices in Pokhran and Balotra and made the arrests; the arrested included Kishanpal Singh, the post master at Pokhran’s chief post office, and a computer operator Narendra Sharma.

Two employees of the Balotra main post office were also arrested. Also, post inspector Vasu Dev Meghwal has been detained. A woman named Pramila was released after preliminary investigations.
