A Pomeranian dog, who was abandoned outside a supermarket in Thiruvananthapuram for having "an illicit relationship" with a neighbourhood dog, has found a new home. A supervisor at the city zoo, Saji, has adopted the furry pup, reported The News Minute.
The dog was left outside a supermarket with a strange note from its previous owners which listed all its food habits and other details and ended with the bizarre reason for abandoning it: ‘She had an illicit relationship with a dog in the neighbourhood.’
Since then, the dog had been staying with a People For Animals volunteer, Shameem.
“I met Shameem madam at the zoo last week. I had read about the dog in the papers and wanted to adopt it. She said the dog is still with her, no one has adopted her yet.”Saji told The News Minute
Shameem said she found Saji to be different. He had gone to her house with his wife Bindu the same day they called to enquire about the dog.“The dog had immediately become friendly with the couple and was on Bindu’s lap in no time. I found them very loving.”
Shameem recalled how she had received queries about the dog through a social media post put up by another PFA member but was not sure if the dog could be trusted with them.
She told The News Minute: “Some called with the intention of putting the dog in a kennel. We’d also need to worry if they want the dog only to breed and have new puppies that they could then sell for a good price. There were some who claimed it might be the dog they had lost, but I’d ask them some basic questions to verify, before having them visit. Also, some of the more genuine callers had not followed up after the first enquiry.”
