A woman who accused former BJP state general secretary Sanjay Kumar of molestation and rape in 2018 received a call from the Prime Minister’s office on Friday, 6 September, in response to her letter seeking action, Hindustan Times reported.

The woman, who was also a member of the BJP, had filed a complaint in late 2018, following which Kumar was removed from his post of general secretary.

While police had lodged a complaint of molestation and rape, the rape charges were withdrawn citing lack of evidence. The woman told Hindustan Times that she was asked to meet the officials concerned and that her complaint in November 2018 to senior party leaders yielded no action.
