Moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a reassuring speech to ISRO scientists at its Bengaluru headquarters following the Chandrayaan-2 setback on Saturday, 7 September, the space agency’s chief K Sivan was visibly upset.

A video from the moment shows Sivan breaking down as the PM was about to leave the ISRO centre. PM Modi who lent his shoulder to Sivan gave him a hug and consoled him. Words were exchanged as a disturbed and disappointed Sivan took time to gain his composure.

ISRO's plan to soft land Chandrayaan-2's Vikram module on the lunar surface veered off script in the early hours of Saturday, with the lander losing communication with ground stations during its final descent.
