Man Inserts Iron Rod, Kills Woman After She Resists Rape in Patna

Deeraj Paswan, the accused, was the woman’s neighbour and has been arrested by the police.

A 35-year-old woman in Naubatpur in Patna district in Bihar was killed on 12 October when she was brutally assaulted by a 22-year-old man after resisting his attempts to rape her.

Deeraj Paswan, the accused, was the woman's neighbour and has been arrested by the police. He had reportedly kidnapped her when she had gone to relieve herself on the night of 11 October.

According to the police, Paswan inserted an iron rod into the victim's private parts following the failed rape attempt.

She was reportedly rushed to a local primary health centre from where she was referred to PMCH, where she died during treatment.

A SIT has been formed to probe the Naubatpur incident.

Another Bihar Rape Victim Commits Suicide

In an unrelated incident also in Bihar, an 18-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide in Bhagalpur on 11 October, after her neighbour and his friend gangraped her.

She was reportedly kidnapped by Mritunjay Kumar and his friend Rahul Kumar, who took her to a house in Tilka Manjhi and committed the crime, reported Telegraph.

According to the report, the alleged rapists fled after dropping her off in an unconscious state. The police found a suicide note in the girl’s room.

Police officials told the newspaper that the girl took the “extreme step as she was unable to bear the trauma”.
