The family of Anissia Batra, the 39-year-old flight attendant who allegedly committed suicide, has claimed that the flat she sold for Rs 1.2 crore was the reason behind her strained relationship with her husband, reports Hindustan Times.
According to the family, her husband, Mayank Singhvi, who was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Tuesday, 17 July, used to allegedly harass and abuse her for dowry.
Anissia’s parents alleged that the flat in south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar was owned by their daughter and she had sold it for Rs 1.2 crore in February, HT quoted the investigator as saying.
Anissia had kept the money in her bank account, but Singhvi allegedly wanted the money. He would fight over it.Investigator told HT
The police has requested banks to seal the couple’s accounts and has seized their cell phones.
Anissia allegedly took her own life on Friday, 13 July, by jumping off the terrace of her house in Delhi’s Panchsheel Park. She worked with Lufthansa Airlines and lived with Singhvi.
Singhvi was arrested by the Delhi police on Monday, 16 July, in connection with her death and produced before a magistrate on Tuesday.
