For the second time in two months, a suspected intruder from Pakistan has been shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) at Gurdaspur, in Punjab on 15 May. The incident took place when the BSF personnel allegedly spotted some suspicious movement near the fence along India’s International Border (IB) with Pakistan.
The intruder was allegedly shot after he did not heed repeated warnings by the BSF personnel. Search operations are on in the area to look for more intruders while the area has been cordoned off.
In a similar incident in February earlier this year, an intruder was shot dead in Bamiyal sector along IB.
Gurdaspur has often been a high alert zone and a common entry point for infiltrators from Pakistan due to its geographical proximity to IB.
More details awaited.
