Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Tonk, Rajasthan on Saturday, 23 February, where he condemned the attacks on Kashmiri students in the country in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack.
“Our fight is against terrorism and enemies of humanity. Our fight is for Kashmir not against Kashmir, not against Kashmiris. What happened to Kashmiri students in last few days, such things should not happen in this country,” he said to the thousands who had gathered at BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Rally in Tonk.
Modi said the government will not be silent and that the BJP knows how to “crush terrorism”.
“I'm proud of our jawans who within 100 hours sent the perpetrators of the attack on their comrades, to the place where they belong,” he said.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu And Kashmir Omar Abdullah ‘thanked’ Modi for condemning attacks on Kashmiris, in a tweet.
In another tweet, Abdullah said he hoped the attacks would stop after Narendra Modi’s speech.
Narendra Modi also talked about the conversation he had with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. “I congratulated the Pakistan PM when he was elected. I told him India and Pakistan fought a lot, but Pakistan did not gain anything. I told him, now you have entered politics, let us come together against poverty and illiteracy. He told me ‘I am the son of Pathan, I speak the truth.’ Let us see if he stands by his words.”
