The Quint’s investigative report on Delhi’s cab drivers has had social media talking about the attitude of cabbies towards female passengers. Shot on hidden camera, our reporter went undercover to reveal the mindset of an average cabbie in the national capital region.

The report has sparked an online conversation. Many readers reacted with shock and disbelief, while there were others who blamed the society, or even the female passengers. We have curated some of the reactions below.

Shocking. Ladies must be aware of such demons. (sic)

Just wanted to point out that it’s not the profession that causes them to be misogynists. It’s oh-so-famed culture of India. (sic)

I think its safe. I’ve met extremely nice drivers. And I would take an ola or an uber in a heartbeat whenever stuck. Seriously. And I am someone who books a cab atleast once a day. Aren’t we just overdoing this negativity bit? (sic)

The comments in this video are not surprising..bcoz this is the mindset of 80% of the common people...esp drivers who are ferrying females... Actually so much can be discussed on this topic.....!!?? (sic)

Why is everyone so surprised? This is how an average Indian male thinks (yes even the rich and educated ones) - not just a cab driver.

GOD help the Nation where a women’s character/virginity is decided according to what she wears/eats/drinks. And where men are absolutely free to do whatever they want, and can openly justify rape/abuse as the only way of ‘teaching us a lesson’ (sic)

Hope this video goes VIRAL... its important very important to talk about this - also to introspect reality on every side of the line... I am not shocked by these comments, we all have heard them before. but I am disturbed... so deeply disturbed !

Amazing work Aaqib. I personally have put this thought across the women in my life, that they should actually be careful about what they are wearing, the time at which they are travelling and the kind of lifestyle they are showcasing. I am not saying you don’t have the right to drink or smoke or wear shorts or whatever. One has all the rights to do what they want to do. Neither am I saying ki aisa karoge toh aisa Hi hoga. I am just saying, be smart and protect yourself from the mishappenings. Because while holding a pan, you are not certain whether the pan is hot or not, but just for protection you would like to use the appropriate gloves, so you don’t get burnt, just in case. P.S.- no intention of debating or offending anyone, just a personal thought and belief. (sic)
