National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday, 20 October, arrested key accused Mohd Ashraf Khandey, who was absconding in the Nagrota Army Camp attack case, NIA stated in a press release.
He was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi while he was trying to flee to Saudi Arabia via Sri Lanka.
WHAT WE KNOW
According to the press release by NIA, Khandey was one of the co-conspirators in organising the Nagrota Army Camp attack in November 2016.
Khandey's role comprised of harbouring and transporting three terrorists belonging to terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad – who carried out the attack on 166 Medium Regiment camp in Jammu's Nagrota area on 29 November 2016.
In the retaliatory fire, all the three terrorists were eliminated.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED
During the investigation, three people were arrested in connection to the case who further provided details on the prime conspirators of the Nagrota army camp attack.
“Three accused namely Sayeed Munir-ulHassan Qadri, Tariq Ahmed Dar and Mohd. Ashiq Baba have already been arrested in the case and at present they are lodged in judicial custody”, reads the press release.
The press release also stated, “investigation of the case is in final stages and a charge-sheet will be filed in the court in the coming days.”
