Nepal PM Oli Presented Honorary Degree at GB Pant University

Oli's Three-Day Visit Itinerary

Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be accorded a ceremonial reception on Saturday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan where he will call on President Ram Nath Kovind.

Delegation-level talks between Oli and Modi will be also held on Saturday. The talks will be followed by remote inauguration of development projects and press statements, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

On Saturday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Home Minister Rajnath Singh will also call on Oli separately.

During the visit, Oli will also call on Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

On the third day of his visit, the Nepalese premier will visit the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand.

He will visit the Breeder Seed Production Centre and an integrated farming project there.

Oli will also be conferred with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science at the university.

He will then leave for Kathmandu later in the evening from Delhi.

Honorary Degree for Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli

Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was presented an honorary degree at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. Oli and his wife reached Uttarakhand in the afternoon on Sunday, 8 April.

Nepal PM Oli Arrives in Uttarakhand

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli arrived at Pantnagar, and is scheduled to visit GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology.

Uttarakhand Governor KK Paul and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat accorded a warm welcome to the Oli and his wife at the airport from where they headed for Pantnagar Terai Bhawan.

'A Peaceful and Prosperous Nepal is in the Larger Interest of India': KP Oli

Addressing the India Foundation reception in Delhi, Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Oli stressed on the importance of his country’s relations with India, saying:

Our dream is for a prosperous Nepal. This cannot be done alone. We will continue to look for support across the world, particularly at our neighbours… We will never let our land to be used against sovereign India. We are firm in our resolve and we need the same kind of assurance from India.

Pointing out that Nepal’s economy cannot sustain an alarmingly high trade imbalance with India, Oli said he had “comprehensive and frank conversations” with PM Modi.

I firmly believe, and I hope you all will agree, that a peaceful and prosperous Nepal is in the larger interest of India as well as other neighbours… We are a country between two big neighbours. We want to have friendly neighbourly relations... The most important thing for us is friendship.

Venkaiah Naidu Meets Oli

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu met Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Oli on Saturday, 7 April, as part of the latter’s three-day visit to India.

Earlier, Oli held delegation-level talks with PM Modi and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
