The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results of the much-awaited National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – phases 1 and 2 today.
The result was expected to release on 17 August but the Board has just released the result, a day prior to the expected date.
Approximately 6 lakh candidates appeared for NEET 1 whereas 4 lakh candidates took the NEET 2. Girls have outperformed boys in qualifying the exam though the number of boys in the top fifteen percent remains higher.
One transgender candidate also made it to the top fifteen percent.
CBSE also released a list of top performing candidates as per which Het Shah secured the first rank, scoring 685 marks out of 720, while Ekansh Goyal (682) came second and Nikhil Bajiya (678) stood third.
CBSE has provided All India Rank to the candidates and admission authorities will draw a merit list based on the rank for MBBS and BDS seats.
“Accordingly, candidates may get in touch with their respective State/Institution for further information,” the statement said.
About 26 candidates had used unfair means for clearing the exams, all of whom have been debarred from taking medical exams in future.
The counselling process is expected to start soon.
Candidates can check their result on the official website of CBSE, cbseresults.nic.in.
