Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, resigned from the party on Tuesday, 22 October.
Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted that Kaur plans to work as a social worker after leaving the party.
‘Some People Did Not Want Sidhu, Punjab CM Working Together’
Blaming people within the Congress for causing unease between Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kaur on Tuesday said that her husband never wanted to be in the spotlight.
The former MLA said they did not hold any grudges and emphasised that her husband would be working for the welfare of his constituency Amritsar East.
“They (Sidhu and Amarinder Singh) enjoyed good relations. Nothing was going wrong in their relationship nor was anything going to go wrong. But some people could not tolerate that two forces could work together strongly,” she said.
Kaur joined Congress in 2016. In May, she had stirred controversy when she alleged that Punjab CM and party general secretary in-charge for the state Asha Kumari were the ones who made sure that she was denied the Lok Sabha ticket from Amritsar.
Her husband and Congress leader Sidhu resigned as minister in Amarinder Singh’s Cabinet in July this year.
