1. Two Men Molest, Assault Model At Juhu Hotel Party

A 22-year-old model has filed a complaint with the police that two men allegedly molested and assaulted her a few days ago when she was at a friend’s party in a Juhu hotel.

In her complaint to the Juhu police, the Malad resident has stated that on the night of July 3, a friend of hers from Goregaon, also a model, invited her to a party at a hotel in Juhu. On reaching the venue, she was introduced to nine of the host’s friends present there.

A short while later, the victim said, when she was walking to the washroom, a man followed her and touched her inappropriately; she told him to stay away, but he asked her to come along with him. Ignoring him, she went to the washroom. After coming out, the same man followed her again and touched her once more, leading to a heated argument between the two.

Soon, his friend joined him and the two allegedly started beating the victim. She asked the hotel staff to intervene, but the duo refused to listen to them as well. The victim said she then called up a friend of hers, identified as Dilsher Shaikh, narrated the incident to him and asked him to reach the hotel as soon as possible.

"The 20-member delegation of women MPs visited the jail," ADG Prisons B K Upadhyay told PTI. He, however, declined to divulge details of the visit. "We will suggest changes in policies of the jail administration, if needed," she told PTI.

The police had last month registered a case of murder against six staffers of the jail in connection with the death of Manju Govind Shete. 5. HC Asks BMC Why 2 Bandra Crosses Are Marked For Demolition

The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the BMC to produce material showing why two crosses in Bandra (West) are marked for demolition. A bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Vibha Kankanwadi heard a petition by the Bombay Catholic Sabha regarding the crosses at Chapel Road and at Nandi Cinema which were issued demolition notices on June 24. The HC on June 30, in an interim order, restrained BMC from demolishing them.

The Sabha moved the HC afresh to challenge individual demolition notices after the court last month declined to pass a general order staying demolition of crosses. It also challenged the committee set up by the state government's May 5, 2011, circular to identify unauthorised religious shrines and categorise them. The circular divided illegal shrines prior to September 29, 2009 into three categories - those to be regularized, demolished and relocated. Its petition said the cross at Chapel Road is shown in the city survey record and has a property card. Also, documents show the cross at Nandi Cinema existed since 1937 and it is also in a heritage precinct.
