Cyclonic circulations have been observed over northeast Arabian Sea off north Gujarat coast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday, 29 June. Another cyclonic circulation has been observed over east central Arabian Sea off south Maharashtra coast.
IMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Thane, Greater Mumbai, Palghar and Raigad on Thursday.
- At least three people have been killed as heavy rains lashed Mumbai and the adjoining Thane on 24 and 25 June
- Mumbai has received 231.4 mm rain on 24 June
- Water logging was reported in several parts of the city
Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Likely Along West Coast, Gujarat: IMD
Cyclonic circulations have been observed over northeast Arabian Sea off north Gujarat coast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Another cyclonic circulation has been observed over east central Arabian Sea off south Maharashtra coast.
The IMD further observed that this situation is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall along west coast of India and parts of Gujarat. With northward shift of monsoon trough, weakening of off-shore trough is likely, leading to reduction in rainfall over west coast.

One More Death in Thane Due to Heavy Rains
Apart from the two persons who died on Sunday near the Metro Cinema in south Mumbai, a 13-year-old boy was also killed and his parents injured when an adjacent wall collapsed on their house at Wadol village in Ambernath taluka of Thane around 2:15 am on Monday, reported PTI.
In another incident, a 65-feet compound wall of a housing complex in Thane city collapsed on Monday morning, crushing two cars and another vehicle.
