1. Himalaya FOB Collapse: Cops To Quiz Civic Officials Who Worked On The Bridge In 1982
In the aftermath of the Himalaya Bridge collapse, the Azad Maidan police is set to question civic officials who worked on the foot overbridge’s (FOB) construction in 1982. Civic officials have dug up documents dating back to this time – which include details of tenders given to contractors, engineers employed and follow-up work on the bridge – and handed them to the investigating body.
The roles of those involved will be probed, even though many of the officials may no longer be alive, said officials from the bridges department, which is also under the scanner.

2. 2019 Lok Sabha Elections: Party Hopping Continues, BJP Inducts A NCP Leader And Ex-Cong Corporator
Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, candidate hopping continued on Friday with Bharati Pawar, NCP leader from North Maharashtra; and Pravin Chheda, former Congress corporator from Mumbai, joining the BJP. Both moved over to the BJP in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Pawar, NCP’s candidate from Dindori constituency in North Maharashtra in 2014, is likely to get the BJP ticket from the constituency. Pawar, daughter- in-law of former minister AT Pawar, had been defeated by BJP’s Harishchandra Chavan.

3. PNB Scam: Mehul Choksi Moves Application In PMLA Court, Citing Heart And Other Ailments
Fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi on Friday moved a new application in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Mumbai, stating his long history of heart ailments and a blood clot in the brain. This comes after it was reported on Wednesday that the extradition process against embattled diamond jeweller Mehul Choksi has begun in Antigua. The court has adjourned the matter for April 9 for arguments

4. 17-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Off Train
A 17-year-old student from Wadala died after falling off a running train near Dockyard Road station around 2.05 p.m. on Friday.
According to the police, Zubair Siddiqui and his four friends were returning home after an exam. “They were Class X students of Anjuman-e-Islam High School and had appeared for their Geography exam,” a senior official said. After the exam, the victim had offered Friday prayers at his school.

5. New TB Drugs Work On Children
A combination of the two new anti-tuberculosis drugs, bedaquiline and delamanid, has been found to be safe and effective in a small group of paediatric and adolescent patients suffering from the infectious disease. At least 18 minor patients who were put on these drugs at an independent Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) clinic in Govandi have shown consistent sputum conversion (samples testing negative for the bacteria) and overall improvement.
