1. SSC Paper Leak Case: One More Arrested by Mumbai Police
The owner of a coaching centre in Ambernath was arrested by the Mumbai Police late on Thursday for allegedly receiving five question papers of SSC exams from another arrested accused. Police said Munir Shaikh (29), the owner of Wisdom Classes in Ambernath, had received the SSC papers on WhatsApp, forwarded by a tuition teacher, who was also arrested on Thursday.
According to officers of Amboli police station, who made this seventh arrest in the case, Shaikh had received Class X examination papers of English, Marathi, Maths, Science and History before the examination began. “The accused has 40 Class X students in his coaching centre. We are investigating whether he forwarded the paper to any of them,” said a senior police officer. The officer said the tuition teacher, Atish Kadam, arrested earlier, had said he had forwarded the papers to Shaikh before the examination.

2. Minor Murdered Near Mumbai; Cops Sent to UP to Nab Suspect
The Bhiwandi police, who are investigating the murder of a four-year-old girl who was found with her hands cut off on Wednesday, said one of the girl’s neighbours was missing and suspect him to be the prime accused. A team has been sent to Uttar Pradesh to nab him.
The police and the crime branch have questioned more than 20 residents after the body of the minor, identified as Payal Prasad, was found in a jungle area near her house on Wednesday. She was a resident of Gautam Nagar in Bhoiwada in Bhiwandi, around 36km from Mumbai.

3. BJP Foundation Day Rally in Mumbai: Amit Shah Sounds Poll Bugle, Mocks Rahul Gandhi
On the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) 38th foundation day on Friday, party president Amit Shah sounded the bugle for the 2019 elections with a speech squarely targeting Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar, at the party’s mega rally held at MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex .
The countdown to 2019 has begun, and disparate political parties and groups are trying to come together to challenge the BJP, he said. Shah called out Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his “failed attempts to point fingers at Prime Minister Modi”. “Rahul baba, the world’s view of India has changed because of PM Modi,” he said.

4. Maharashtra Biggest Beneficiary of CSR Projects in 2016-17
Maharashtra has been the biggest beneficiary of corporate social responsibility(CSR) projects by listed firms in financial year 2016-17, according to provisional data released by the government. This, despite the fact that the state has seen CSR spending by listed firms drop by 61 per cent from Rs 1,810 crore in 2015-16. According to government data, 6,286 listed companies spent Rs 4,719 crore towards various CSR activities in 2016-17 across the country. The total number of such projects taken up stood at 11,597. The CSR spending of listed firms in 2016-17 has plunged by 65 per cent from a year ago.
The data shows, that in Maharashtra alone, 1,869 listed firms have spent Rs 702.36 crore through CSR projects. Delhi saw 656 listed companies spend Rs 230 crore in the same period, while 165 firms spent Rs 213 crore through CSR projects in Madhya Pradesh. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu saw 687 and 662 firms, respectively spending Rs 203 crore in each of the two states.

5. Nalasopara: Son Murders Father’s Killer
A 25-year-old man was booked for murder in Nalasopara on Friday after he fatally attacked a 45-year-old man who had allegedly killed his father two years ago. According to the police, the accused Vishal Yadav, who is on the run, wanted to avenge his father’s death so he planned the killing along with another friend.
Yadav’s father was reportedly murdered by the victim Pravin Divekar in 2015. Yadav had attempted to kill Divekar once before in November last year after the latter was released from custody on bail in March. Then, however, Divekar survived despite being attacked by swords and axes.
