1. BJP Has Agreed to Share CM Post for Equal Tenure: Shiv Sena

Taking exception to state BJP minister Sudhir Mungantiwar’s remark that Maharashtra would get a BJP chief minister after the upcoming Assembly election, Shiv Sena leaders on Tuesday said the BJP had agreed to share the CM post with the Sena for two-and-a-half years each.

Sena functionaries said there was no change in what had been announced at the time of forging their alliance with the BJP in February, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Statements about having a BJP chief minister should be ignored, said a leader.

2. Malegaon Blast: Photographer Who Took Pictures of Site Deposes as Prosecution Witness

A photographer based out of Malegaon, who had clicked pictures of the site of the blast, deposed on Tuesday as a prosecution witness in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

The witness told the court that he had clicked photographs after the police had called him, and that he had taken prints of the pictures and handed them over to the authorities.

He identified the photo album that he had submitted. The defence lawyers cross-examined him over his presence at the spot and the submission of articles, including a CD, which did not have his handwriting on it.

3. Andheri Preschool Staff Booked for Assaulting 2-Year-Old

The staff and a teacher of an Andheri-based preschool were booked on Tuesday, after a parent of a two-year-old girl complained that her daughter was allegedly assaulted by them.

“We have registered a case and are investigating it further,” said Shailesh Pasalwad, senior police inspector, Oshiwara police station, adding that no arrest has been made yet.

The accused have been booked under Section 23 (punishment for cruelty to juvenile or child) of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000.

4. Man Fails to Pay Maintenance to Estranged Wife, Faces Arrest

The Bombay high court (HC) has issued an arrest warrant against a man who has not been paying a monthly maintenance of Rs 43,000 to his estranged wife since July last year. The warrant was issued as neither the man nor his advocate was present for the hearing of the contempt petition filed by the man’s estranged wife despite being asked to do so.

The man is a physical trainer and runs many fitness clubs in Pune.

5. Diamantaire, Firm Directors Booked in Two New Cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a statement on Tuesday, saying it had recently booked absconding diamantaire Jatin Mehta and other directors of his firm, including a foreign national. They are accused in two separate cases for defrauding two state-run banks to the tune of Rs 587.55 crore.

Following this, the CBI raided residence and office premises of Mehta and directors of his firm Winsome Diamonds and Jewellery, except for the foreign national who is also accused in the case.
