A video of a farmer in Madhya Pradesh, bowing in front of Shivpuri’s Collector, seeking help over a delay in the installation of a transformer at his farm has gone viral on social media platforms, according to the Times of India report.
The video clip of the incident which took place on Friday, 28 December, shows the farmer weeping and falling at the collector’s feet, as she walks out of her office and gets into the car.
Ajit Jadhav, a farmer in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, had paid Rs 40,000 six months ago for a transformer that can help in running the pumps at his field. But he did not receive any help from the administration for the installation, NDTV reported.
With no progress being made regarding the installation, Ajit sought the district Collector, Anugrah P’s help.
But the District Collector has said that the case is not singular and that there are 50 such pending requests, according to NDTV.
“There was no undue delay. It takes six months for installation after applying. There were others in the waiting list. He applied in August. But now we have given him the connection. We also have surveyed the crops and they are fine,”Anugrah P, District Collector
After the video went viral on social media platforms, the district administration has taken cognisance of the matter and has restored electricity connection for his pump, according to CNN-News18.
Electricity Department General Manager RK Agrawal confirmed that the farmer has received the connection.
State Cooperatives Minister Govind Singh has also taken cognisance of the incident and promised to inform Chief Minister Kamal Nath about it. "Farmers are the priority of the government. We will ensure they are not put to any difficulty," he said, according to CNN-News18.
