Former editor and writer-turned-politico Arun Shourie lost his BJP membership last year following his scathing remarks against the Modi government ever since it came to power in 2014. He had earlier been a Union Minister in former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government.
Shourie had been a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi when the latter was touted as the PM candidate before the Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP/Modi-Shourie relationship took a fragile turn with the latter launching regular stinging attacks against NDA functioning under Modi’s rule.
He has voiced his dissent against the government’s “systematic attempt to curb civil liberties” while further embarrassing them by saying, “Doctor Singh (Manmohan Singh) ko log yaad karne lag gaye hain.
On his 74th birthday, let’s talk about Shourie’s views before and after Modi raj.
