Are our government officials confused or have they forgotten how to their job? Or is it that they don’t know how to comply with the Supreme Court judgment?
On the morning of 27 March , The Quint published an article on how the Narendra Modi government is not giving financial and career benefits to the CRPF and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) by issuing a notification granting Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU) status. The Supreme Court had ordered the Ministry of Home Affairs on 5 February 2019 to issue the notification at the earliest. This was over six weeks ago.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) wrote a letter to MHA on 25 March 2019, saying that Cabinet approval should be taken before the notification is issued. This would have delayed the process of granting the NFU status.
After The Quint reported that the Cabinet approval is not required, the DoPT wrote a fresh letter to MHA on 27 March saying that the 25 March letter stands cancelled.
