On Monday, academic and activist Bela Bhatia was threatened at her residence in Jagdalpur, Bastar by a mob of 30 men.
She has been asked to vacate her home within 24 hours and the mob threatened to burn down her house, her dog and terrorised her landlord, according to media reports.
Bhatia had helped tribal women file FIRs against security personnel for gang rape and grievous sexual assault in November 2015.
The men who came to Bhatia’s house forcefully entered it, according to a message posted by Bhatia in a WhatsApp group. She managed to escape from them and called the Collector for help.
This incident comes days after the National Human Rights Commission ordered a probe into the sexual assault allegations that Bhatia had reported.
