A six-year-old was found dead on the roof of a neighbour's terrace with her throat slit, and her family supposedly suspected "black magic" as a motive behind her murder.

However, in a shocking turn of events, it was discovered that the "occultist" story had been cooked up by the girl's mother in order to mislead the police. According to media reports, the mother, along with her lover, had connived to kill the minor girl after the girl saw them in a compromising position. The girl had threatened to inform her father.

According to Times of India, the girl's mother, Munni Devi, told the police that she was home with her husband and her two sons when Kajal went out to play. This was her normal routine. However, when Kajal did not return even after it was quite late, they went out to look for her.

Devi also said that when she asked Kajal's friends if they knew of her whereabouts, they said they had seen her go towards a "ghost" and she never returned to play with them.

According to TOI, a source quoted Devi saying:

When I saw my daughter’s body this morning, I became sure that someone had performed black magic on her, and her throat was slit in a manner that only an occultist could do for a sacrificial ritual.

Truth Behind The Conspiracy

However, Munni Devi's ploy did not remain uncovered for too long. When the police questioned her, she could not provide satisfactory answers, which made the police suspicious. According to a Hindustan Times report, the neighbours had tipped the police off about Munni Devi's extra marital affair with Sudhir as well. Subsequently, Devi and Sudhir confessed to their crime.

"The couple planned to kill the girl after she threatened to inform her father," DCP Omvir Singh informed HT.

According to the police, Sudhir had allegedly entered the woman's house while her husband was out drinking at a liquor shop, reported Hindustan Times.

The woman’s daughter spotted them in a compromising position. She threatened to tell her father, after which the duo took her to a neighbour’s terrace and slit her throat with a knife.
