PM Narendra Modi Extends Milad-un-Nabi Greetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, 2 September, greeted people on the occasion of Eid-E-Milad, saying that the teachings of Prophet Mohammad will continue to spread the message of peace.

In his message on Twitter, Modi wrote "may the teachings of Prophet Mohammad further the spirit of harmony in our society".

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu also shared Milad-un-Nabi greetings with everyone.

“My greetings to Muslim brethren on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi... His life and preachings will continue to inspire all to spread peace and happiness,” Naidu wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Milad-un-Nabi marks the birthday of Prophet Mohammad and is commemorated in the third month in the Islamic calendar.

12th Rabi' al-awwal is the accepted date among most of the Sunni scholars, while Shi'a scholars regard 17th Rabi' al-awwal as the accepted date.
