Men With Suspected ISIS Links Brought to Kerala for Investigation

Kerala Police booked both Arshi Qureshi and Rizwan Khan under relevant sections of the IPC.

  • Two men, Arshi Qureshi and Rizwan Khan, arrested from Mumbai for allegedly radicalising and recruiting youngsters to ISIS, were brought to Kochi on Sunday as part of Kerala Police’s investigation into the case.

  • While Qureshi, allegedly associated with controversial preacher Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation, was arrested on 21 July, Khan was picked up from his residence in Thane district the next day.

  • Kerala Police traced Qureshi following a complaint lodged in Kochi by the brother of a young woman, who is suspected to have joined ISIS along with her husband.

  • Kerala Police slapped charges under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on the duo and booked them under relavant sections of the IPC.

  • At least 21 youths from Kerala have been reported to be missing and suspected to have joined ISIS.
