The Delhi Police arrested a man carrying arms near Nizamuddin Bridge on 22 April, a day before the MCD polls are scheduled to be held. Thirty semi-automatic pistols, a Sten gun and five live cartridges were reportedly recovered from the man.
The accused has been identified as Rajpal, who was allegedly in Delhi to transport the arms According to reports, Rajpal was meant to hand the arms and ammunition over to two people who planned to sell them.
The police are investigating to verify if the weapons were being transported as a part of a plot to disrupt the polling for the the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
